MOCA Wins LABBC Innovation Award for Energy Efficiency
Today, the Los Angeles Better Building (LABBC) presented the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Los Angeles with the Innovation Award in the category of Energy Efficiency. As part of this project, ACCO developed the unique concept of utilizing adiabatic humidification, which is also being used for cooling. Per the LABBC’s website: “Utilizing a complex bypass and energy management control scheme, MOCA replaced all 10 air conditioning units with modern equipment, added a new Digital Energy Management System, and replaced all lighting with LED fixtures without shutting down the Museum or varying temperature or humidity by more than 1%. Six months following completion, the Museum has reduced its electrical consumption by >50%”. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to contribute to this one of a kind project and all of us at ACCO are humbled to be a part of this recognition.
Congratulations especially to the following ACCO team members who helped this project come to fruition: Tag Graves, Tom Reynolds and Bill Brown (concept + engineering) Sean O’Blenis and Greg Guizado (project management) and Jess Lamas and Steve Breitel (controls).
